News: Brewers toast first year at Butchers Arms
The Raw Brewing Company is toasting its first successful year at the Butchers Arms, in the picturesque Rotherham village of Woodsetts.
Owners, Enterprise Inns worked with the Chesterfield brewery when re-opening the pub to understand the requirements that were needed for the consumer offer. This resulted in a part tie, allowing Raw Brewing Company to stock their own cask and kegs ales along with other cask ales from across the country.
The anniversary event, taking place this weekend, will mark the launch of the Raw Brewery's new Xtreme range of beers, which have been developed by the brewery to challenge the boundaries of possibilities in brewing. Unusually, each extreme beer will only be produced once and designed to place different aspects of the brewing process under the microscope, giving visitors a chance to taste the first beer in the range: Raw Xtreme no.1 Aussie Gold, a golden 4.5% extreme hopped beer for the first time.
During the weekend the pub will host a beer festival featuring 26 real ales from breweries across the UK, live entertainment, and for non-beer drinkers a chance to meet the distiller behind Sheffield's new Gin Distillery.
David Hemstock, director of the Raw Brewing Company, said: "When we re-opened the Butchers Arms we wanted to create a pub that not only offered good beer and good food, but also as a place that made a positive contribution to the local community.
"It's an important milestone for the pub, and by creating a packed weekend of live entertainment, new and unusual beers to try we wanted to thank all of our customers who have helped to make the pub such a success."
Since re-opening last August, the Butchers Arms has won two awards by the Rotherham branch of CAMRA, securing the title of Autumn Pub of the Season and was also runner up in the branch pub of the year.
