News: Millers sign significant sponsorship deal

Rotherham United has announced a new multi-year deal with IPM Group to become the club’s new Stadium Facilities Management Partner. It will also see IPM's branding on all three of the Millers shirts during the 2021/22 campaign.

Following extensive discussions with the club, a lucrative deal for both parties involved sees Killamarsh-based IPM Group assume several duties at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The IPM Group logo will be displayed on the club’s home strip for the 2021/2022 season, following its summer release. Whilst innovative access management sub brand – inteliPod, will take pride of place on the change and alternate shirts throughout the forthcoming Sky Bet League One Season.

Alongside the marquee shirt sponsorship agreement which enables the team to where red at away games, IPM Group will take on an active role in the matchday and day-to-day operations of the football club, serving as the clubs Primary Partner for Stadium Management, including stewarding provision, stadium cleaning, CCTV monitoring and maintenance.

A ‘multi-year’ deal will also see an option to extend the front of shirt agreement beyond 2021/2022.

News: Rotherham United contract for Showsec

Showsec, the event and venue security specialist, has scored a contract with Rotherham United to continue supplying its services at the New York Stadium for the next three years.

With a head office in Leicestershire, Showsec has 250 supervisors and over 2,500 qualified security staff, working at a number of high profiled arenas, stadia and events.

With the Millers back in the second tier of English football and kicking off their Championship home campaign this weekend, Showsec will continue to provide stewards and door supervisors alongside other security providers at the club.

Paul Davis, stadium manager at Rotherham United, said: "Showsec have proved to be a reliable, professional security provider over the past three and a half years working closely with our own safety management team to ensure New York Stadium is a safe, welcoming venue to visit. We look forward to developing our relationship further over the next few years."

During its previous contract, Showsec has forged valuable links with local charities in Rotherham, including donating tables to Rotherham Hospice at special Rotherham United events and functions.

Showsec said it will be looking to recruit more casual workers to meet the growing demand in the area. Attendances at the stadium are set to be up on last year.

News: One million barrier mark for ZND

Famous for making barriers, Rotherham-based ZND UK is now breaking barriers, after a bespoke pedestrian barrier machine installed in 2012 reached the milestone of producing over one million barriers.

The market leader in the manufacture and supply of high quality temporary fencing, ZND has invested millions in the manufacturing process that makes its products the most technically advanced temporary fencing and pedestrian panel range available today.

Securing financial backing from Barclays enabled ZND to purchase its 170,000 sq ft Rotherham facility at Barbot Hall that manufactures more than 17,500 meters of temporary fencing per day.

The firm has a turnover of £37m and employs around 100 staff.

Over the last few years continued investment and improvements have been made into the machine to produce a fully automated production line to fulfil increased demand.

In January 2013 ZND added new automated welding robots to the production line to produce even stronger and durable barriers.

A spokesperson for ZND, said: "This year, due to the success of our existing barrier production line we are adding a second updated system to run alongside our existing machine. This will allow us to increase our capacity to produce even more quality barriers for our customers."

Lorries packed high with fencing are common sight on Rotherham's roads and recent high profile contracts for ZND include new cycle barriers used at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014, barriers used at events in London for the 2012 Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and the 2014 Boston Marathon.

Over 15,000 fences and over 3,000 pedestrian barriers went to Glastonbury last year and ZND safety barriers were also in use for the Grand Depart of the Tour de France held in Yorkshire in 2014.

News: Danone signs with Peoplesafe

Global food company Danone has signed up South Yorkshire lone worker experts Peoplesafe to look after more than 200 of its employees in the UK.

Based at Dinnington, Peoplesafe is the brand for lone worker safety solutions offered by Rocksure Systems Ltd. Partners, SoloProtect (formerly Connexion2) are the manufacturers of the award winning Identicom device.

Two divisions of the multinational company, Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition and Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition, have given special devices to 200 field staff, so they can call for help if necessary while out and about. The device, an Identicom 877, looks like a name badge, but has an alarm button on the back, which calls through to Peoplesafe's monitoring centre.

Gerry Jarvis, Danone's head of safety, said: "As a responsible employer we take the well-being of our employees very seriously and their safety is a priority for us.

"We do training to make sure all employees understand the importance of safe lone working practices, so having the Identicom gives us back up assurance. Our teams now know that help is only a button push away should they need it."

The 200 employees issued with the Identicom include 100 nurses who work for Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition who visit patients' homes to provide medical nutrition products and check on associated equipment.

The Identicom also has a GPS locator, so people can easily be found in an emergency. It is one of a range of products supplied by Peoplesafe, which is one of the UK's leading providers of simple and lightweight equipment, training and monitoring services for lone workers.

News: Reflex protects Magna Carta at Lincoln Castle

Reflex Systems, the Rotherham-based integrated fire and security systems specialist, has been drafted in to provide the fire safety system that will guard Lincoln Castle and its precious consignment – one of only four surviving, original 1215 Magna Carta.

The Hellaby firm secured the contract as part of a £22m restoration of Lincoln Castle, the Lincolnshire County Council site – which includes the 947 year old castle, perimeter wall and Victorian prison, as well as the new David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault – the only location worldwide where the Magna Carta and its sister document, the Charter of the Forest (1217), can be viewed together.

Described as "the most valuable export of Great Britain to the rest of the world," the Magna Carta was signed 800 years ago and is an example of an absolute monarch surrendering some of his powers, the beginning of a process that led eventually to our current system of government. It has gathered momentum and assumed a greater authority in respect of the central key clauses concerning liberty and justice.

Reflex was commissioned to supply a new, integrated fire safety system but as John Pye, managing director at Reflex Systems, explained: "Due to the complex nature of the buildings in an architecturally sensitive environment, there were a number of restrictions and requirements set out by English Heritage in a challenging brief."

Utilising the very best in equipment that blended with the background, Reflex reduced the amount of cabling required onsite, and minimised the disruption to the fabric of the historical buildings by installing hybrid wireless fire detection products. Combining a wired translator unit with battery operated detectors, the hybrid system helped to overcome some of the architectural challenges of the buildings as the individual components did not need to be wired together.

Pye added: "As well as hiding wiring and our equipment during the installation, we also had to make sure the rest of the system was sensitive to the environment. In this case, that included spray painting the heat and smoke detectors in the Magna Carta Vault and prison so that they would disappear against the walls."

Mary Powell, programme manager at Lincoln Castle Revealed, added: "The restoration marks a huge investment for Lincoln Castle, and ensuring that we had the very best in fire protection was a key consideration to securing its future."

Rotherham-based security experts, Pyronix, has appointed a new authorised distributor as it re-enters the Portuguese market.

Based in Hellaby, Pyronix is an award-winning manufacturer with an extensive range of electronic security equipment for intruder alarms.

Sanco, a Porto-based family-run business, managed by brothers Nuno Lapa and Sergio Lapa, was officially launched as the latest authorised distributor by Pyronix international sales manager, Kelly Bard, at Segurex 2015 in Lisbon, the biggest exhibition taking place in Portugal targeting security and safety sectors.

Sanco, who have just celebrated their 40th anniversary, originally started as an installation company in 1975, but due to difficulties obtaining security products in the north of Portugal, they decided to address market needs and start a distribution company (Sanco) in 1993. Boasting coverage across Portugal, they have their own in-house and external sales reps, as well as an excellent technical support staff who are all fully trained on the Pyronix range.

Pyronix believes that Sanco was looking to establish a strong and long-term partnership with a new supplier and chose them as it's a brand they trust; thanks to the reputation of producing reliable, high quality products.

News: Connexion2 announce expansion plans as it becomes SoloProtect

Connexion2, the Dinnington company that uses innovative technology solutions and associated services to improve the safety and productivity of lone workers, is to be formally renamed SoloProtect Limited and move to new premises as part of significant expansion in the UK.

The firm was launched in 2003, backed by investors including South Yorkshire Investment Fund, and is based at Carrera Court on the site of the former Dinnington Colliery. Connexion2, which employs around 45 staff, developed and manufactures Identicom, which is now the UKs most widely deployed dedicated lone worker device.

The business was acquired by the US leading emergency communications company, Kings III of America, in 2013.

SoloProtect Limited is planning to expand in the UK, combined with established lone worker operations in the USA and a burgeoning presence in mainland Europe.

Central to plans is the development of a brand new, purpose built Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) within a new 10,000 sq ft head office in Sheffield. The facility, which will be a state of the art ARC, will be the first in the UK to be audited against BS8591, the forthcoming British Standard and the new European standard, EN 50518.

Once operational, all Alarm Receiving Centre support services for UK SoloProtect customers will be provided through the facility.

Designed to look like a normal ID badge, the Identicom system allows lone workers to raise an alarm, make an emergency phone call or send a text message. It is part of the lone worker solution SoloProtect, which includes the device, 24/7 manned monitoring, SIM card, mobile network usage, training, inclusive billing and monthly reporting.

Once an alert has been raised this then goes through to an approved ARC where a dedicated member of the lone worker team can listen into and access the situation, and escalate to police if necessary.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed that SoloProtect's new facility is set to be at the Vantage park development on Sheffield Road (pictured), and being a 24/7 operation, it could lead to a significant increase in staff.

Since it was acquired in 2013, the parent company has launched a SoloProtect US division and European operations have expanded into The Netherlands, Germany and France with a SoloProtect New Zealand division also launching this year.

News: Data centre achieves PCI DSS compliance

IT infrastructure company, Onyx Group, has been certified as compliant to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) at its Yorkshire Data Centre in Rotherham.

Stockton-based Onyx opened its Yorkshire facility at Pioneer Close, Manvers in 2012 where it delivers Cloud hosting and backup, colocation, IT support and security. The £2m investment has been certified to v3.0 level 1, which means Onyx customers hosted systems can be involved in a variety of payment channels in the certain knowledge they are locating their hardware in a fully audited and certified facility.

PCI DSS was developed in 2004 by major credit card companies to encourage and enhance cardholder data security and facilitate the broad adoption of consistent measures globally. Today any company that stores, transmits or processes cardholder data must comply with the requirements.

2014 saw online retail sales break through the £100 billion barrier for the year for the first time in history. A growth of 14% on the previous year, the figure demonstrates the increasing need to protect critical cardholder information, reassuring both organisations and customers alike.

News: Pyronix appoint new director

Award-winning Rotherham-based security experts, Pyronix, has made an appointment to its board of directors - Paul Ramsay, who has joined the company as an international sales director.

Based in Hellaby, Pyronix manufactures an extensive range of electronic security equipment for intruder alarms. Exporting to over 65 countries worldwide, Paul will further develop the Europe, the Middle East and Africa and other international markets outside of Poland, Russia and Italy - these three European markets are to be managed by Valeri Filianov.

Paul was previously at Norbain, the electronic security distributor, as their divisional director of export sales. During his eleven years at Norbain, international sales grew significantly with expansion into the Middle East with offices in the UAE and Saudi.

Prior to joining Norbain, Paul has worked in the manufacturing industry for several companies including a business that was successfully acquired during his tenure by Tyco Electronics. During this time he progressed from a UK sales role to director of Asian sales and East Coast regional manager where he relocated to the USA.

He has been the recipient of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) chairman's award for his contribution to export and is an active liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.

On Paul's appointment, Julie Kenny CBE DL, chair and chief executive of Pyronix, said: "Paul's experience in the industry is second to none. News: S3 ID approaches 50

S3 ID, the Rotherham-based provider of cutting edge location awareness solutions is closing in on 50 staff following a year of new contracts, new premises and new owners.

S3 ID has developed a range of specialist hardware and software products that provide real-time personnel location awareness, mustering and access control. They are used in working environments where a major incident would be catastrophic such as oil, gas and petrochemical plants.

Originally formed in 2008, the major exporter recently expanded into new premises in Templeborough. Along with office and administration facilities, the new headquarters will provide S3 ID with scope for a large showroom, workshops and a bespoke product testing area. S3 ID, which will design and manufacture its technological solutions at the site, will also be creating a dedicated Research & Development centre.

Doug Woodbridge, director and head of sales & marketing at S3 ID, said: "The move to larger premises reflects our unprecedented growth over the last two years. Our new premises provide us with a great platform on which to better service our customers' needs and sustain our future growth plans.

"We had outgrown our existing premises and there was little room for expansion. We are delighted to have secured these facilities as it will leave us well placed to continue providing customers with our innovative new technologies."

Over the last four years S3 ID has achieved a near tenfold increase in sales, driven predominantly by innovative, patented new technologies. Customers for S3 ID products include Statoil, Shell, BP, Eni and Conoco Philips.

The company reported profits of just over £1m for the year ended December 2012 and in July, CSE Global Limited (CSE), an international technology group listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, acquired 75% of S3 ID.

Following rapid growth in a range of international markets, S3 ID has taken on more staff at its new premises, recruiting in all areas of the business, from senior management through to project and design engineers.

Derek Gennard, director at S3 ID, said: "Our new recruits are now firmly embedded into our business and already making a difference to customers.

News: Reflex Systems checks in with hotel contract

Reflex Systems, the Rotherham-based integrated fire and security systems specialist, has recently completed a major project to upgrade the fire detection systems for one of the UK's leading hotel groups, QMH UK Ltd.


The contract was carried out over a four week period, which involved upgrading the fire detection systems on 18 hotels, including 12 Holiday Inns, three Best Western hotels and three Crowne Plazas, stretching from Plymouth to Glasgow.

Reflex Systems utilised the latest generation Analogue addressable fire detection systems, which the company installed across the hotel group's accommodation, leisure and conference facilities. The benefit of the new system is that it provides additional peace of mind for the hotel owners and occupiers, it also future-proofs the existing systems infrastructure so that the latest technologies & product ranges can be utilised and that they are fully compliant with the latest legislation which is backed up and maintained throughout the year by Reflex Systems.

News: Reflex provide safe and secure start to life

Rotherham-based Reflex Systems has provided another level of baby monitoring at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough by installing an innovative new wireless infant tagging and fully integrated door access security system.

The Hellaby firm designed a sophisticated wireless system which is extremely easy for nursing staff to use. The technology allows nurses to fit both mother and baby with matching RFID (radio frequency identification) tags simply and effectively, which provides 24 hour monitoring. This includes reporting any unauthorized exit through protected doorways, tag removal or loss of signal, via alarm.

The fully integrated system means that any alarms triggered by the infant tags will result in a sequenced door lockdown and live sounding of alarms locally, at the nurses' stations, as well as at the central security desk.

Reflex Systems went one step further by integrating site-wide CCTV monitoring with the alarm system, which enables nursing staff to have real-time surveillance of the whole area.

Kay Loudon-Bruce, head of security at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It was really important to us that the baby tagging system we chose was simply to use, as well as being extremely secure. As nursing staff need to be able to spend their time nursing, we didn't want them to require lots of technical knowledge in order to be able to operate the system.  Reflex Systems has delivered a technologically sound, robust infant tagging solution that means we can trust in the system to do its job in providing the best possible protection for mothers and their babies."

News: Awards success continues for Pyronix

The Enforcer System, developed and manufactured by Rotherham-based security experts, Pyronix, has picked up another industry award and been chosen to represent the UK at the European Business Awards.

The system was named as the best intruder alarm product at the PSI Premier Awards. Held at the historic Brocket Hall in Welwyn, the awards ceremony is organised by the trade magazine and is unique in that it gives equipment installers the chance to vote for their favourite products that have introduced new technologies or given them the best results.

Launched in 2011, the Enforcer was a world-first fully two way wireless alarm system incorporating a transmitter and a receiver in each wireless device. The wireless technology is a vital part of the system that keeps it reliable and provides a major advantage to the installer and user.

Guy Dodd, UK sales director at Pyronix, said: "We are delighted to be accepting the award for the Intruder Product of the Year. News: Two golds for Reflex Systems

Rotherham-based Reflex Systems has been awarded two Gold accreditations as a testament to its high quality standards.

The leading independent security specialist based in Hellaby has been awarded accreditations from NACOSS (National Approvals Council for Security Systems) and BAFE (British Approvals for Fire and Equipment).

Reflex supplies products and technologies including CCTV systems, access control, monitoring and fire detection. Recent projects include providing systems for the new £11m passenger terminal development at Leeds Bradford Airport and a fully integrated security and safety system for the £65m Leeds Arena.

NACOSS is an independent not-for-profit supervisory body that is responsible for ensuring its member companies are fully compliant with security industry standards and codes of practice. BAFE is an independent third party registration body for the fire protection industry which delivers the same assurances to customers through rigorous assessment relating to the fire industry, both are increasingly conditions that are stipulated by insurers and specifiers alike.

As preparation for achieving NACOSS and BAFE Gold, Reflex Systems’ internal quality team carried out a full review of its policies, processes and procedures relating to fire and security over an eight month period to ensure it met the requirements of these important industry standards.

Rotherham-based Reflex Systems is to supply an advanced fully integrated security and safety system for the new £60m Leeds Arena.

The Hellaby firm was successful in bidding for the contract due to its expertise in designing and engineering complex and innovative security and safety systems. Not only is the company supplying and installing the hardware, network components and software, Reflex will also be providing an ongoing service and support contract which includes 24/7 response in line with the needs of the 13,500 capacity venue.

The integrated systems that Reflex Systems has designed and is installing is based on a fully networked solution, which operates in both event and non-event modes. The arena will benefit from state-of-the-art control, with site-wide high definition camera images transmitted in real time to both the central and event control rooms, providing operators with instant crowd management, intruder access alerts, central door control as well as fire detection status monitoring.

The cutting edge products include the latest generation IP Network HD CCTV cameras, electronic door access and fire detection system control technology, all of which integrate to advanced specialist management software.

News: Reflex secure airport contract

Rotherham-based Reflex Systems has successfully installed safety and security at the new £11m passenger terminal redevelopment at Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA).

The leading independent security specialist based in Hellaby has worked with LBIA since 2005 and the bulk of the latest project was taken up with upgrades. CCTV has been upgraded for the entire site in passenger and airside areas, while the access control was overhauled.

The new solution includes the installation of the very latest access control systems, providing a high level of traceability as well as sophisticated management information and auditing tools. Enhancements were also made to CCTV in car parks and other external areas.

Tim Beynon, Head of Airport Development and Planning at Leeds Bradford Airport said: "Reflex understands our environments and the demands upon us. As a border control authority we have to work to strict government guidelines and if systems fail for any reason, our airport closes and the knock-on effects can be significant both commercially and from a public perception perspective.

News: Envelope Master rest assured with new contract

Envelope Master has called on the expertise of fellow Rotherham company, Assured Fire and Security in the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed the company's factory earlier this year.

At its height, around 60 firefighters, ten fire appliances, two aerial ladder platforms, and supporting vehicles were at the January fire at the Envelope Master site in Aldwarke.

The padded envelope and bubble wrap specialist was quickly back in business, though, and has now called in award winning Dinnington company Assured Fire and Security to install a new fire and security system.

The £6,000 contract includes full fire alarm system installation as well as system monitoring and maintenance.

Simon Stokes, managing director at Assured, said: "We are delighted that, having turned things around so quickly and ensured that business could continue, Envelope Master then came to us as specialists in security and fire prevention.

"As we continue our programme of expansion nationwide, we still take great pride in being able to support South Yorkshire businesses too as they are at the heart of everything we do."

Envelope Master recently completed their new storage area which, at full capacity, is able to stock 12,782 rolls of bubble wrap. The company is also pioneering the use of supplying coreless rolls of bubble wrap, saving on space and reducing the impact on the environment.

News: Companies combine to complete overseas contract

Reflex, a leading independent security specialist based in Rotherham, has worked in partnership with another local firm, CSE Controls to supply a brand new gas storage facility in the district of Wittmund, Germany.

The site uses latest industry technology to import and distribute natural gas stored in underground caverns and chose to use the two companies because of the individual specialised knowledge, CSE for their site safety and control background and Reflex for the video, alarm and access control expertise.

Both are also fully accredited GE systems / products partners in their relevant fields and this was also key to the projects success.

Reflex supplied ATEX and CSA compliant fixed and functional cameras to provide security and perimeter protection. This included the use of latest generation video analytics software for the identification of alarm conditions, fibre optic transmission of security camera images and specialist fire detection cameras, high performance video recording and storage.

The access control system provided perimeter door monitoring and site and building access with the ability to integrate further into the site safety software.

This application called for close collaboration between the two specialist companies and involved the development of new integration software to allow the seamless operation, control and monitoring of the site management systems through a single technology platform developed for the gas and petrochemical industry.

A security product manufactured by Pyronix in Rotherham has made its TV debut to millions of viewers on national television, thanks to a recent appearance on Coronation Street.
