News: Positive signs at Gala Tent

By

Rotherham-based Gala Tent has seen an increase of over 100% in orders for its custom printed service since bringing this service in-house in the latter part of 2013.

This huge success comes after Gala Tent announced it had acquired a 50 per cent stake in digital printing business Sign Man, three months ago.

The deal, which saw Sign Man relocate to Gala Tent's premises at Manvers, meant that the company could offer its custom-printed gazebos and marquees service in-house, providing a more efficient service and cost effective solution.

Since taking over the Sign Man business, Gala Tent has been able to offer next day delivery to many of its clients, which has resulted in a significant increase in orders due to its enhanced customer service, reliability and speed.

Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, said: "We are delighted that our plan to grow our custom printed business has worked so well since we have brought this capability in-house. Customers really appreciate the fact that we are now able to provide a much quicker and more efficient service, whilst guaranteeing the quality of the customised printing.

"Our custom printed gazebos and marquees are already really popular with large drinks brands, traders and for corporate businesses and we expect to see this increase even further as companies prepare for the events season."

As a result of this business growth, Gala Tent is planning to create a number of new jobs in its digital printing business over the coming months.

One new member of staff is Rebecca Parkin, a graphic designer from Wath (pictured, right), who will work as part of Gala Tent's marketing department, which includes creating designs to be printed on gazebos and marquees.

Mace added: "Employing our own in-house graphic designer is part of ensuring we can provide the best possible design and print service for our customers."

Founded in 1999, Gala Tent has grown to sell over 10,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products. It grew from a table top operation in Grimethorpe to a company with a turnover in excess of £5m in just over a decade. In the UK, Gala Tent is a preferred supplier for organisations including the military, NHS, the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Police Service, St John's Ambulance and AA.
