The Star Business focuses on another successful Rotherham business this week, ASD Lighting, headed by the man at the front of the bid to buy Rotherham United. Tony Stewart and his company supplies royal palaces, hospitals, apartment blocks and a range of industrial and commercial developments with decorative commercial lighting, designed, developed and manufactured in the UK. The company came out on top in Rotherham in The Star's Top 100 SME's and is heading towards a £22 million turnover this year. The business started out over a shop with four youngsters on a Youth Training Scheme before rapidly moving to Rotherham to escape Sheffield's rocketing rates. Recent investments of around £5m have seen the company take a prominent position on the Barbot Hall Industrial Estate. The article focuses on the way ASD works with architects through the design and development phases, without compromise, to find the perfect solution. Tony Stewart told The Star: "We say to people, let's give you the perfect solution – and you are in control of it. That's why we are so busy. The architect can have his idea, his theme, his product, through our bespoke tailoring of lighting products."
