Sterecycle has announced that it will double capacity and create up to 20 further jobs at the world's first commercial scale autoclave plant in Rotherham. The company, which has pioneered the use of steam for processing unsorted household waste, was granted planning permission to expand operations at its Yorkshire site by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council earlier this month. As a result Sterecycle will increase the Templeborough plant's handling capacity to 200,000 tonnes per year - equivalent to the waste produced by a town of 400,000 people - by late 2010. The number of workers at the plant will increase from currently 34 to more than 50. Duncan Grierson, Chief Executive of Sterecycle, commented: "With the Rotherham plant now operational, Sterecycle has achieved a world first by bringing this clean technology to commercial use for household waste. The granting of planning permission to double our capacity is a further endorsement of our technology and strategy. We are delighted that we will be able to strengthen the local economy with the creation of further jobs as well as contribute to Yorkshire's successful recycling efforts. Our technology offers a clean alternative to the landfilling of waste and produces a terrific material for the generation of renewable energy."

As a Tinsley resident,I read with horror the thought of you doubling your site, will this mean double the stench we receive most days, one of our small grocery store owners have his customers complaining about his bins smelling
when its actually your premises which is causing the problem, will you be rectifying this problem, it's a bit galling considering the
smell is not Tinsleys' rubbish that is causing it.
Would appreciate some feedback!!!!n
