News: U-explore has the answers for government strategy
The DCSF has published Fit for the 21st Century, a new IAG strategy to modernise careers education to make it accessible for today's generation of young people and to keep pace with a rapidly changing economy - and make sure every young person, whatever their background, can aim for the top.
The strategy advocates the use of online web-based information that is not simply referred, but embedded across the curriculum and the use of technology to make careers advice for young people become a cumulative, active process rather than a single event.
U-explore's software uses inspirational, reality based information from employers and employees to educate and engage young people. Accessed online, it brings businesses to life using cutting edge technology such as 360 degree curriculum based virtual tours, video case studies and individual profiles.
U-Explore has been recognised by the Minister of State for Schools and Learners as being an innovative resource for helping link students with employers.
Vernon Coaker MP was given a special demonstration of U-Explore Interactive as part of a visit to Hull.
The Minister said: "It was interesting to see how innovative, interactive careers advice, information and guidance tools like U-Explore Interactive are helping link students with their potential employers."
Regarding the strategy, Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, said: "Many people have anecdotal experiences of really bad careers advice and often say if they had their chance again they would have done something different.
"I want this generation of young people to be able to look back and say their careers advice and guidance was relevant and gave them informed options."
