News: Horbury finishes work before new term
Rotherham-based construction specialists The Horbury Group has completed work on a state-of-the-art new student village adding to its growing educational portfolio.
Horbury Building Systems and MWS Joinery, two of the eleven companies which make up the group, have completed work on a massive expansion for campus accommodation in Birmingham.
The £214m development at Aston University has seen an additional 1300 high-specification, en suite bedrooms to being built to welcome the new students to the university.
Trevor Wragg, managing director of the Horbury Group, said: "This project is a key regeneration scheme for the Aston University, and has been built to exciting standards.
"The new student village has been designed with the environment in mind, using the latest energy-efficient materials and systems, including cutting-edge, environmentally-friendly features to provide students with a first class student accommodation and enhance their enjoyment of their time at Aston University."
"We have strengthened our educational portfolio on both a local and national scale and the fact that we have provided such a high number of student bedrooms in the last few years is testament to Horbury Group's strong relationships with main contractors and consistent delivery on such projects.
The group has now worked on similar projects totaling more than 8,000 student bedrooms since 2005, making it one of the biggest university accommodation subcontractors in the country.
Hobury Group has also since completed work on a range of high quality, luxury town houses, studio and cluster purpose-built student flats at Leeds Metropolitan University and on the new £500m Heslington East campus at the University of York.
