News: Bramall completes new council homes three months ahead of schedule

By

Rotherham social housing specialist, Bramall Construction, has completed the first council properties to be built in 20 years in Nottingham - three months ahead of schedule.

The eight properties in Clifton has been delivered and project-managed by Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes in partnership with Bramall Construction. The scheme has been funded by Nottingham City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Work began in the spring and had to be completed by March 2011. Despite the recent cold snap, the site has been handed over three months ahead of schedule, enabling new tenants to move in before Christmas.

The brand new energy efficient three bedroom properties have all been built to high sustainability standards. They include photo-voltaic panels which will provide free electricity to the homes during daylight hours, an 'A' rated boiler and high levels of insulation.

Each property has been built to Lifetime Homes standards, which means they are easily adaptable as a tenant's needs change.

Chris Langstaff, Chief Executive of Nottingham City Homes, said: "These new properties have been built to be highly energy efficient, providing affordable living and accommodation fit for a family.

"Working together with Bramall Construction and Nottingham City Council, we have been able to deliver a fantastic collection of family-sized properties for those that are most in need."

Graham Lonsdale, Contracts Manager at Bramall Construction added: "We are delighted to be involved in building the first new council homes in the area in 20 years.

"Working alongside Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City Homes and the HCA we have been able to complete the new homes to excellent standards and are glad the new residents are looking forward to enjoying the benefits of their new home."
