News: AESSEAL recognised for manufacturing excellence

By

Rotherham engineering firm, AESSEAL, has been shortlisted seven times as part of the Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2011.

Run by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the MX Awards are the UK's longest running business awards of their kind and were established 28 years ago to protect manufacturing and promote best practice.

Assessors and moderators visited AESSEAL's global headquarters at Templeborough earlier this month as the awards also provide a detailed benchmarking and assessment process to help improve the businesses taking part.

AESSEAL has been shortlisted for awards in Customer Focus; Logistics & Operational Efficiency; People Effectiveness; Business Development & Change Management; Financial Management; Sustainable Manufacturing; and Partnership with Education.

They have gone one better than last year when they made the shortlist for six out of the 12 awards and went on to win the PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for Customer Focus.

Colin Brown, director of engineering at IMechE, said: "AESSEAL is a fantastic business that is helping to ensure manufacturing remains at the heart of Rotherham's economy.

"It is exciting to see a company excelling in so many different parts of its business and we hope the company can inspire more local manufacturers to take part and benefit from the Manufacturing Excellence programme."

AESSEAL specialise in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems. They won the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2011 for international trade, recognising that over six years the company's overseas earnings have more than doubled and three-quarters of its output are now exported to its markets in more than 100 countries.
