News: U-Explore hosts ministerial visit

By

Rotherham education specialist, U-Explore, is hosting a ministerial visit today to explain more about their work providing online careers advice and training to schools, councils and businesses.

Based in Templeborough, U-Explore specialises in enabling schools to deliver reality based careers information, advice and guidance. Their U-Explore national school product is an innovative software solution which engages with young people through cutting edge media.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey and Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rachel Reeves MP will make the visit at a time when the number of young people out of work rose over one million in the three months to November.

John Healey said: "U-Explore are making careers advice exciting and inspiring as well as informative.

"This is more important than it's ever been because it's tougher than it's ever been for young people to make that step into the world of work from school or college.

"Unemployment has soared to the highest level for a generation and long term youth unemployment has more than doubled since January last year."

Rachel Reeves added: "I'm looking forward to visiting U-Explore, and talking to them about how they are dealing with the current economic situation in Yorkshire.

"It's great that U-Explore are helping young people get on the careers' ladder. With unemployment at a 17-year high, they need support now more than ever."

Last year, the government called on U-Explore's expertise when they launched the Youth Inspiration initiative, created to inspire and raise the aspirations of young people.

Designed and developed by U-Explore, the website for What's Your Destination? - www.whatsyourdestination.co.uk - is a new, independent and charity sector-led initiative that aims to make it easier to find and access the many organisations that are working to inspire young people.
