News: Yorkshire Crisps flying high with new export deal

By

The Rotherham-based Yorkshire Crisp Company has secured a new contract to supply a leading Middle Eastern airline with its range of gourmet crisps.

The Waleswood company produces hand-made gourmet crisps made from local vegetables and totally natural flavours. The new deal will see the crisps made available, free of charge, in all classes on board the airline's aircraft as well as in their exclusive airport lounges in a new 25g size bag.

Tim Wheatley, sales director at Yorkshire Crisps, said: "We are hugely excited by this development and we are sure that production of the 25g bag will open up further opportunities in this area of business.

"Very few premium crisp producers offer this size and it is the perfect solution for airlines, hotel mini-bars or complimentary snacks."

The deal was secured through 4 Corner General Trading, experts at sourcing food and non-food products globally for hotel groups, airlines, foodservice customers and major retailers in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.

Paul Grimes, managing director of 4 Corner in Dubai, said: "Both 4 Corner and this leading airline are passionate about providing exceptional service and products of the highest quality to customers every day, a premium product such as Yorkshire Crisps sits perfectly with this commitment."

Yorkshire Crisps won the Export Award for the Regional Food Group for Humber and Yorkshire in 2010 for demonstrating passion and determination in embracing global export markets. The business, which was initially a regional operation has expanded and their gourmet crisps are now exported to over 14 countries around the globe, including the Far East.

Closer to home, their products can be found in regional supermarkets and flavours of the crisps including Lightly Sea Salted, Henderson's Yorkshire Sauce and Nowt On are already being sold in John Lewis Food Halls, Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

Last year, the company was presented with a coveted one-star Gold Great Taste Award for its Roast Lamb and Mint gourmet crisps.
