News: 111 call centre to open in Rotherham
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust has secured a modern Grade A office building in Rotherham for the home of the region’s new 111 telephone service which is to be launched in the spring.
The 24-hour/365-day NHS 111 service is part of a new national initiative being rolled out to help direct patients to the most appropriate urgent healthcare service. It will make it easier for the public to access healthcare services when they need medical help fast, but it's not a life-threatening situation.
The deal sees commercial property agents Knight Frank leasing Building 4, part of the 16 acre Callflex Business Park in Manvers on behalf of Henley Investments 101 Limited.
Mark Squires, associate director of Support Services at Yorkshire Ambulance Service, said: "The new office building at Callflex provides us with purpose-built call centre accommodation which suits the requirements of the new service.
"We will be using the facility for call handling and training our staff who will be providing this important urgent care advice line for people across the region.
"We chose the building because of its Grade A specifications - full air conditioning, raised access floors, suspended ceilings with recessed lighting, lift access, and a fully fitted reception combined with its prime location."
Peter Whiteley, partner at Knight Frank, said: "The Dearne Valley region has received much deserved attention as a prime place for businesses looking to base themselves in an attractive and practical location.
"Yorkshire Ambulance Service will have access to the community’s great amenities as well as excellent national communication links via the M1 and A1, with Sheffield, Leeds and Nottingham all less than 45 minutes away."
The move comes five years after the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust closed its 999 call centre in Rotherham and relocated the operation to an expanded centre in Wakefield.
