News: Korea move for Yorkshire Crisps

By

The Yorkshire Crisp Company has secured an export deal that sees the Rotherham-made gourmet crisps being sold in Korea.

The Waleswood company produces hand-made crisps made from local vegetables and totally natural flavours. It produces ten flavours of luxury hand cooked crisps with the most recent guest flavour – Sweet-Cured Ham & Pickle proving so successful that it has now become a permanent addition to the range.

Yorkshire Crisps are being distributed in Korea by S2Foods and are now being sold in the SSG Food Market in Seoul as well as the Shinsegae department stores. The crisps are available in 100g drums in Sweet Chilli & Lime, Nowt On, Chardonnay Wine Vinegar, Natural Sea Salt and Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella flavours.

Already exported for sale in Hong Kong, China and Macau, the crisps are now available in 22 countries and the firm won the Deliciouslyorkshire Export Award in 2010. Deliciouslyorkshire is a not for profit organisation providing vital support to a diverse range of food and beverage producers, retailers and distinguished hospitality operators in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.

Tim Wheatley, sales director at The Yorkshire Crisp Company, said: "This is a great new addition to our export contracts. We are thrilled how our business, which started as a regional operation, has developed and with assistance from the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber, we have moved from national levels to attracting buyers from overseas."

Closer to home, Yorkshire Crisps products can be found in regional supermarkets, delis, bars and independent retailers. Prestigious customers include John Lewis food halls, Virgin Atlantic, Hotel du Vin and Malmaison Hotels as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End theatres and Delfont Mackintosh, Nimax and Ambassador Theatre groups.
