Rotherham-based Pricecheck has delivered its biggest day, week, month, quarter and year in the company’s history.

With its HQ at Beighton Link in Rotherham, Pricecheck is a fast-growing international wholesaler and distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).

The company has reported highlights of its 2024/25 financial year which included ten consecutive days of £1m+ turnover, £3.3m turnover on the final day of the financial year and £179m in total revenue – a 17.9% increase on the previous year.

A spokesperson for Pricecheck said: "2024/25 marks our 11th consecutive year of growth. For our customers and brand partners, this momentum signals one thing: Pricecheck is investing in growth, building capacity, and ready to go further. Whether it’s breaking into new markets, streamlining fulfilment, or offering category-leading brands, we’re constantly evolving to help our partners thrive."

Momentum has continued into the new financial year with the signing of a distribution partnership with a company that serves approximately 4,400 cups of coffee or tea per second.

A new deal has been signed with JDE Peet's (JDEP), the world's leading pure-play coffee and tea company.

From July, Pricecheck will become the distribution partner for a portfolio of iconic JDEP brands, including Kenco, L’OR, Douwe Egberts, Tassimo, Maxwell House, and Mellow Birds. The partnership will span key UK channels: wholesale, convenience, foodservice, office, and selected retail.

News: Pricecheck renew lease on head office and warehouse

By

International brand wholesaler and distributor Pricecheck has taken a five-year lease renewal for its 113,839 sq ft head office and distribution centre in Rotherham.

The company originally moved into the premises at Beighton Link in 2016 and has since taken further space at Manvers, both in Rotherham. The company finished 2023/24 with a turnover of £151m - growth of 15% on the previous financial year and distributes in excess of 8,000 fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) products to more than 100 countries.

A team from Gordons law firm comprising commercial property partner, Sarah Ratcliffe, and head of property disputes, Paul Joyce, advised Pricecheck on the lease renewal negotiations.

Established in 1978, the company is run by brother and sister duo, Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison, who took the business over from their parents.

Pricecheck’s vision is to be the first-choice distributor for brand owners and customers across the world and it has ambitious plans to increase turnover to £200m.

Commenting on the lease renewal, Pricecheck joint managing director, Mark Lythe, said: “This lease renewal was far from straightforward with three parties involved, including a previous tenant from whom we were subletting the premises. The team at Gordons helped us to navigate various issues and bring the matter to a successful conclusion within the required timeframe.”

Pricecheck has delivered ten years of consecutive revenue growth.

Gordons’ Sarah Ratcliffe said: “Pricecheck is a fast growing business with significant ambitions, so it was essential for us to secure a new lease on the facilities to enable the company to further deliver its strategic growth plans.

“We had to work at pace within short time frames to conclude the negotiations with the landlord. We are very pleased with the positive outcome and look forward to seeing Pricecheck continue to expand nationally and internationally.”

News: Pricecheck reports strongest financial year

By

Pricecheck, an international wholesaler and distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, has reported its strongest financial year to date.

The company, which has its main warehouse facility at Beighton Link and further space at Manvers, both in Rotherham, smashed through its ambitious target of £100m turnover by 2020 and has now broken three financial records, achieving its best month, quarter and year ever recorded - all in the same week.

Trusted by the world's biggest brands, Pricecheck offers more than 6,000 branded products to customers in the UK and to more than 80 countries globally.

After a year of challenges and opportunities, Pricecheck finished 2023/24 with a turnover of £151m - growth of 15% on the previous financial year.

Sales for the final quarter reached £44m, which was 22% higher than the same period last year.

April saw the biggest month ever with revenue of £17.2m – a figure that once represented Pricecheck's annual turnover just 16 years ago, when joint managing directors and brother and sister duo, Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison, took over the reins of the business from their parents.

A spokesperson for Pricecheck said: "This is our 10th consecutive year of growth, and is one that has been driven by our expanding services. Our core offering of delivered wholesale remains the biggest contributor to turnover but the launch of new supplier partnerships, an increase in digital sales and developments within brand distribution continue to push our business forward.

"In the past 10 years, we’ve diversified from a delivered wholesaler across toiletries and household into a multi-category, multi-channel brand distributor. And there are plenty of new categories and markets to explore.

"To hit growth targets consistently for a decade is no easy task, but the Pricecheck team love a challenge! With a focus on improving efficiencies, innovation and people development – we’re excited to see what we can achieve in the year ahead."

Pricecheck's vision is to be the first-choice distribution partner for brand owners and customers across the world. It aims to continue to grow with ambitious plans to increase turnover to £200m.

By

Pricecheck, an international wholesaler and distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, has achieved its ambitious target of £100m turnover by 2020.

Having set the target in 2015, Pricecheck has achieved consecutive years of growth which has resulted in its turnover increasing from £40m to £100m within five years. The achievement comes following record-breaking months in May and June.

In those five years, the company has made significant investments in talent, technology and its facilities; having seen its team grow from 80 to 220, the development of a number of bespoke IT programmes and a move to larger premises.

Officially opened in 2016, the ambitious firm moved to new premises at Beighton Link Business Park in Rotherham. The firm recently took on 197,425 sq ft warehouse in Manvers.

Mark Lythe, joint managing director (Operations and Finance) said: "Our team have been going above and beyond to achieve a target which was set in 2015 when our turnover was £40m. Over the past five years, they have truly been our greatest asset and we look forward to working towards our £200m turnover target by 2025.

"In more recent times, the team have shown true tenacity and adaptability in helping us navigate the challenges Covid-19 has presented. We remain very confident in the future of Pricecheck and will continue to invest in our growth plans."

Pricecheck announced a five-year lease of the former Maplin headquarters to increase its warehouse capacity as well as investing in a state-of-the-art warehouse management system in order to operate more efficiently across two sites.

Driving growth is the development of its new B2B eCommerce site. Since launching in May, the website has generated back-to-back record-breaking months, with online sales for May and June growing 580% compared to the same period last year.

Debbie Harrison, joint managing director (Trading) said: "As we strive to become the first-choice distribution partner for brand owners and customers, we've worked hard to diversify our product offering. Since 2015, we have added grocery, alcohol, petcare, and vaping to our traditional health and beauty range.

"Launching our new look website to improve customer convenience was the first of many exciting projects as we look to push forward again and deliver on our next five-year plan."

News: Rotherham-based firms are export champions

By

Exporters from Rotherham are sharing their success stories having been invited to join the Northern Powerhouse Export Champions 2019 initiative, recently launched by the Department for International Trade (DIT).

Part of a wider national Export Champions programme, the chosen businesses will help promote the importance of exporting to their industry and get other UK businesses thinking globally. This network of UK companies will act as ambassadors for exporting, sharing success stories, offering practical advice and leading by example.

Pricecheck Toiletries and Performance Engineered Solutions Ltd, (PES Performance) are two such champions.

Based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham, PES Performance is a high-performance engineering design business, delivering technologically advanced design solutions to clients both in the UK and internationally.

Mike Maddock, managing director of PES Performance (pictured top, centre), said: "Given the nature of our business, some people may be surprised that we are involved in exporting. Although we do not manufacture conventional products, we export examples of our expertise, often in the form of design and engineering solutions, and research & development partnerships, which is then used by our clients overseas to produce their final product.

"We have been exporting since the business began in 2011, and currently around 50% of the company's turnover is from international clients. Our main export markets are in the US, Canada and Europe, and our aim going forward is to further strengthen our presence with clients in North America & Europe, whilst exploring further global export markets.

"In the current business climate, I feel it is crucial that UK companies look to promote their offer, product and services outside of the UK and identify new markets to drive market diversity, reducing exposure to any one market. Working with new global clients can open other opportunities for collaboration and developing new business together.

"At PES Performance, we don't look at ourselves as exporters, but a team and business open to doing business globally. Working with new international clients can open other opportunities for collaboration and developing new business together."

Rothbiz has chartered the overseas success of Pricecheck in recent years. The international distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, is trusted by the world's biggest brands, offering more than 4,500 branded products to customers in the UK and worldwide.

In just six years, exports have increased from £8.8m in 2012 to £32.3m in 2018. Export now accounts for almost half of total turnover.

Debbie Harrison, joint managing director, at Pricecheck (pictured above, right), said: "Our exporting success is down to the hard work of the team. Exporting is more challenging than trading domestically but for the extra effort, businesses focused on export can reap significant rewards.

"Our sales team attend international trade shows and engage in overseas visits to build relationships with our customers, offering an excellent bespoke customer service along with competitive pricing.

"Exports now account for more than 45% of total turnover which is in excess of £80m, so we're thrilled to have received this accolade and look forward to sharing our knowledge."

Over the past year, the Growth 365 business advisers have challenged Pricecheck to take a fresh look at the business' position in the market. As a result, Mark and Debbie have developed a new and stronger identity for the business to boost its image on the international stage.

Growth 365 has also provided expert country market analysis so the pair have the right insight to target potential suppliers and customers in new markets more efficiently. News: Rotherham's inspirational SMEs

By

Five Rotherham-based firms have been included in the London Stock Exchange Group's "1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain" report, which identifies the UK's most dynamic and fastest growing small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

Now in its fifth year, the report shows that those included SMEs are growing at 71% on average and that one third of them come from the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Engine regions. 70 SMEs on the list are based in Yorkshire and companies were selected based on combined key financial performance indicators and sector benchmarks.

Staying on the list from 2017, Rotherham-based Bluetree Design and Print, Crawshaw plc and Wilsons Carpets are joined by Pricecheck Toiletries and Empire Tapes.

The Bluetree Group operates through a number of different brands, including Route 1 Print and instantprint. The £30m turnover group moved to bigger Rotherham premises in 2015. Funding from Barclays and the Sheffield City Region Growth Fund Programme enabled the company to take a new 86,900 sq ft site at Brookfields Park in Manvers. Staff numbers have passed the 250 mark.

Crawshaw Group Plc is the UK's leading value butcher. The AIM-listed firm is based at Hellaby and a transformational deal with the 2 Sisters Food Group in 2017 enabled Crawshaw to restart its accelerated new store opening programme, with an initial focus on factory shop locations.

Established in 1968, Wilsons Carpets is a family firm specialises in carpets, laminate, rugs, vinyl flooring and artificial grass. Headquartered at Houndhill Park, Manvers, it has grown to run 15 stores across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with one of the largest now at The Gateway in Parkgate, Rotherham.

Fast-growing supplier of international branded consumer goods, Pricecheck Toiletries, is celebrating 40 years in business this year and is heading past the £70m annual turnover mark. Officially opening in 2016, new premises at Beighton Link Business Park in Rotherham matched the firm's ambitious future growth plans, with the 115,000 sq ft warehouse able to accommodate 40% more than previously achievable and offices that tripled in size. The business now boasts a total of 170,000 sq ft and aims to reach £200m turnover by 2025.

Earlier this year it bagged new banking facilities from Barclays to support expansion plans and the launch of a new product called "Pro Tape" which has been endorsed by Yorkshire boxer Nicola Adams and was used by Conor McGregor in the recent training camp and fight with Floyd Mayweather.

David Warren, interim CEO and group CFO of the London Stock Exchange Group, said: "1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2018 clearly illustrates the economic potential of the UK's SMEs and underlines the diversity and resilience of these businesses. Their geographical and sector variety lays the foundation for a diverse and balanced economy, enabling the skills and entrepreneurship of many thousands of people to flourish.

"Our role and that of the Government and the financial ecosystem is to ensure that high-growth businesses receive support to realise their growth potential. This not only benefits the companies, but the UK economy as a whole, by creating the jobs of tomorrow."

The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, added: "Small businesses are the backbone of the British economy with a combined annual turnover of £1.9 trillion and employ 60% of private sector workers outside of London. That's why, whether they are family run firms or tech start-ups, we are supporting high growth SMEs to achieve their potential."

News: Pricecheck adds alcohol to product line

By

Having built up a £70m turnover business based on supplying toiletries, Pricecheck now has the ability to buy, store and distribute alcohol in the UK and EU.

Based at Beighton Link in Rotherham, Pricecheck is a leading supplier of international branded consumer goods, working predominately in the health and beauty sector, dealing with discounted clearance stock.

The company acquired the necessary licensing to purchase and distribute alcohol in September 2017. The ability to move into the alcohol market was boosted by exceptional growth in recent years and a commitment to invest in new categories, in order to offer a one-stop shop for customers.

In autumn 2017, as part of Pricecheck's commitment to expansion, work began on a new mezzanine floor at their purpose built warehouse and head office. This investment has enabled increased efficiencies when processing orders in and out of the warehouse.

The company also expanded into additional satellite warehouse facilities in Sheffield which added a further 40,000 sq ft of storage capacity. The business now boasts a total of 170,000 sq ft and the extra space has enabled Pricecheck to increase stock levels of new categories, including alcohol.

News: Pricecheck's charity giveaway

By

Award-winning firm, Pricecheck Toiletries, has donated stock totalling £10,000 to its three chosen local charities.

Pricecheck is a leading supplier of international branded consumer goods and specialises in excess inventory and fast-moving consumer goods.

The firm won the Queen's Award for International Trade 2015 for continuous and cumulative overseas export earnings growth of 283% over six years. In 2016, it officially opened new 115,000 sq ft premises at Beighton Link Business Park in Rotherham.

Bluebell Wood, St Luke's Hospice and the Weston Park Cancer Charity each received pallet-sized boxes full of various consumer goods to donate to patients, use as raffle prizes, or sell on in their various charity shops throughout the region. With ten large pallet boxes, the contents of each box contained a variety of products totalling £1,000, including toiletries such as toothbrushes, deodorants and shampoos, as well as fragrances and other gift items.

Based at North Anston in Rotherham, Bluebell Wood provides care and support to families who have a child who has a life limiting condition and is not expected to live into adulthood. It has to raise over £4m each year to continue its work, and receives less than 10% statutory funding.

Dave Hall, corporate fundraisers at Bluebell Wood, said: "We have been lucky enough to receive support from Pricecheck for a number of years now and one thing this includes is donations of pallets containing a variety of toiletries, cosmetics and beauty items.

"These various products will be used in our children's and adult's bedrooms, as well as around the hospice itself.

"Because Pricecheck helps provide patients and their families with basic things such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and shampoo, it means they don't have to worry about the little things and can spend all of their time creating memories with their children.

"We are so appreciative of the support we receive from Pricecheck and the partnership we have built and cannot thank them enough."

Mark Lythe, joint managing director at Pricecheck, added: "It's great knowing that simple items that we use each and every day at home can make such a huge difference to patients when being treated for cancer, or families when visiting their children. We're more than happy to continue providing our chosen charities with pallets of stock and hope to do more in the future."

St Luke's Hospice look after people over 18 from across the Sheffield region, with all kinds of terminal illnesses. Of the £9.1m it takes to deliver its services each year, £6.3m of that has to come from donations.

Jack Kidder, corporate fundraising manager at St Luke's Hospice, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Pricecheck for generously donating this selection of products to be used by our patients. We have already distributed a large amount to our fourteen charity shops across Sheffield, as well as made some of the stock available for sale in our reception for visitors and staff. We rely on the support of companies like Pricecheck to be able to continue providing vital care to adults across Sheffield living with a terminal illness and their families."

Earlier this year, eleven members of the team at Pricecheck, took part in the "Vengeance Run," raising over £3,500. It came a month after Pricecheck donated £10,000 towards Weston Park's "Beyond the Treatment" appeal, after hosting a staff race night fundraiser. The appeal aims to raise £500,000 for much needed inpatient facilities.

Pricecheck exports to over 75 countries worldwide. It has a turnover of £55m and 100 employees.

News: Pricecheck breaks £50m turnover barrier

By

Award-winning firm, Pricecheck Toiletries has passed the £50m turnover barrier as it continues to grow from its premises at Beighton Link Business Park in Rotherham.

Pricecheck is a leading supplier of international branded consumer goods, working predominately in the health and beauty sector, dealing with discounted clearance stock. It won the Queen's Award for International Trade 2015 for continuous and cumulative overseas export earnings growth of 283% over six years.

The second generation family owned business, established in 1978 by the parents of Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison who now run the company as joint managing directors, officially opened the new premises in 2016. With ambitious future growth plans, the 115,000 sq ft warehouse is able to accommodate 40% more than previously achievable and offices have tripled in size.

Recognising the contribution that private companies make in Yorkshire & North East, multinational professional services network, PwC is highlighting some of the success stories this week and Pricecheck is used to show how a private, Yorkshire business goes from local to global.

Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison, joint managing directors at Pricecheck, explained how being a private company enables them to be adaptable, focus on long-term growth and maintain control over decisions and activities.

The pair said: "Being private means more flexibility and adaptability to change, which is invaluable when it comes to often volatile foreign markets. The speed at which one can react to change is a huge advantage for any international business, meaning growth need not be stunted by sudden industry fluctuations, such as currency instability or recent uncertainty surrounding Brexit.

"There is also flexibility in choosing product categories, having recently expanded into food, drink and pet care, the business can "test the waters" for what works well. Another benefit is the ability to focus on certain market sectors, or target specific countries for export.

"Looking forward, now that Pricecheck has broken the £50m barrier, the next target is to double turnover to £100m within the next five years, meaning continued growth in all areas of the business, via recruitment, export and the addition of new product categories. It's an exciting time to be a private company and indeed a Yorkshire business with global ambitions."
