News: Meet the buyer in Rotherham
Businesses are being reminded that the annual Meet the Buyer event is taking place on January 26 in Rotherham.
Hosted by Rotherham Council and Business Link Yorkshire, the day long meeting has already attracted more than 150 companies keen to find out more about working with public sector organisations.
Among those present on the day will be buyers from the council, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, the NHS and the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation representing a total procurement spend of more than £250m.
Workshops, Master Classes and advice sessions from support agencies are available to those business keen the expand their current areas of provision or wanting to be considered as potential suppliers.
There will also be a number of presentations, including advice on completing a successful tender, the future of construction in the region and up-coming contract opportunities.
Surgeries hosted by Business Link Yorkshire and the council's regeneration arm, Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) will provide the opportunity for businessesto get one-to-one advice.
Cllr Ken Wyatt, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses thinking of tendering for public sector contracts to find out how the process works and to get advice from the experts.
"Although everyone needs to register, it is a free event and one that increases in popularity every year. For any business to remain buoyant in the current economic climate is a struggle. This event may open up new opportunities."
