News: RiPWIRE is Rotherham's best young business using IT
Communications entrepreneur Liam Winder has won the Best Business using IT category at the Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2010.
Earlier this year RiPWIRE become the first internet service provider (ISP) to sign up to the ground-breaking Digital Region project in South Yorkshire.
RiPWiRE has combined this technology with their core network to offer fast, reliable and speed assured broadband services of up to 40Mb and offer business telephony and video conferencing services with consumer and public sector services.
Based at the RiDO-run Fusion @ Magna business centre, Liam now employs five full-time staff and his 20-month-old business boasts a string of impressive clients and services include internet provision, cloud computing and b2b high speed internet services. The business will be consumer-facing once the regional network is set up.
Liam said: "I'm delighted to have my business recognised. We've worked hard and come a long way in a short space of time. Accolades like this help to make all the hard work worthwhile."
The 27-year-old married father-of-two from Thorpe Hesley, picked up the £500 award for the Best Business using IT, sponsored by Yorkshire Forward.
The overall winner of the Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010 will be announced in October.

I think there is very little fact in this article - As far as I'm aware, Ripwire were not the first provider on the Digital Region network, has this been detail been confirmed by Digital Region Limited? I'd be willing to bet it hasn't!
RiPWIRE were the first company to tell me that they were the first ISP to sign up.
I'm happy to change it to "one of the first" if you want.
Either way it's not bad going for a Rotherham start up company.
Cheers,
Tom
