News: New flavour for Yorkshire Crisps

By

The Yorkshire Crisp Company in Rotherham is to add a limited edition Roast Lamb & Mint flavour to their range.

The Waleswood company produces hand-made gourmet crisps made from local vegetables and totally natural flavours and the new flavour will be the first meat-based addition to the range.

The flavour was chosen from hundreds of entries sent in to a national competition to suggest ideas for a new limited edition crisp.

Tim Wheatley, sales director at The Yorkshire Crisp Company said: "We were astounded by the number of entries and diversity of flavours we had sent in, and after much deliberation we decided that Roast Lamb and Mint would work particularly well as a spring launch.

"It is a little different from the run-of-the-mill flavours out there and as we don't currently have a meaty flavour, it will hopefully attract a wider audience to our product."

As well as being sold in regional supermarkets and John Lewis Food Halls, Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, the company has recently secured its first national distribution deal with wine merchant and off-licence, Oddbins.

Following a trial in ten of their London stores, their gourmet crisps will now be available nationwide in up to 158 stores.

Yorkshire Crisps can also now be found at luxury hotel chain Malmaison and Hotel du Vin. All 20 of the upmarket hotels will now have 100g drums of Yorkshire Crisps available in the hotel room mini-bars.
