News: Nicola goes it alone to create Jobs 4 U

A Rotherham recruitment expert has bounced back from redundancy and started her own business with help from the Rotherham Enterprise Project.

Recruitment Operations Manager Nicola Brookes is offering a lifeline to job seekers with a new recruitment agency called Jobs 4 U Recruitment.

Nicola, from Dinnington, was made redundant from her job in November last year, but quickly applied for and was offered another job which involved using her experience and contacts to build up a client and worker database from scratch.

After some serious thought, Nicola instead decided launch her own company using her industry knowledge.

She said: "After 15 years in the business, to find myself redundant was terrifying. I'd never had to face a predicament like that before because I was the person individuals would come to for help and I would assist them to get back into employment.

"Launching my own business wasn't much less daunting to be totally honest but I have had some fantastic support from friends, family and the Rotherham Enterprise project to give me the extra push I needed to turn my concept into reality."

Nicola approached the Rotherham Enterprise Project, which is part financed by The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), after hearing how helpful they were from a local job centre. She was then assigned her own community business coach Robert Moorhouse, who helped her with each step of setting up her business. He also helped her find quality premises at affordable rates.

Robert said: "The current economic climate means it is tougher than ever for start-up business to get ahead and for people to find employment. Nicola's market is a hard nut to crack, but she has proved she has a sharp eye for enterprise and we are thrilled to have helped her with her journey into business."
