News: More awards for AESSEAL

By

Rotherham manufacturer, AESSEAL, has been recognised for their manufacturing excellence and their success in international trade as they target £200m in sales by 2015.

The Templeborough company specialises in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems. At the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) annual Manufacturing Excellence awards, AESSEAL was named the overall winner and also received the Customer Focus award.

The MX Awards are the UK's longest running business awards of their kind and were established 28 years ago to protect manufacturing and promote best practice.

AESSEAL was shortlisted for seven out of nine categories and assessors and moderators visited AESSEAL's global headquarters in Rotherham as part of a detailed benchmarking and assessment process. Judges were impressed by the company's products that are used in sectors ranging from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to food and waste management, and by their strong commitment to the customer.

Chris Rea, OBE, founder and managing director at AESSEAL said: "Continuous improvement is a journey with no final destination. I am sure that all at AESSEAL feel privileged to have been judged by our peers to be further along the journey than most.

"I am immensely proud to be associated with a group of my colleagues in AESSEAL who have grown, developed and who most importantly continue to improve."

AESSEAL has also been presented with another major business award in a ceremony at the House of Lords, being named the International Trade Company of the Year.

The International Trade Awards 2010/11 sponsored by Santander Corporate Banking are the only UK wide business awards exclusive to exporters and importers.

Over six years the company's overseas earnings have more than doubled and three-quarters of its output are now exported to its markets in more than 100 countries.

From humble beginnings as a simple engineering store in 1979, AESSEAL has grown approximately 20% per year every year to become the fourth largest mechanical seal manufacturer in the world.

Amazingly, despite breaking the £100m annual turnover barrier last year, sales are expected to rise from around £128m in 2011 to £150 million by 2012.

The aim is to reach sales of £200m by 2015 and to be number one in the world in 2029.

Jonathan Wilkinson, CEO of AESSEAL, said: "Our key driver is to deliver our products and services to customers wherever they may be in the world. Much of our success is based on trading internationally, being unafraid to seek out new markets, delivering an exceptional customer experience on a worldwide stage.

"The growth the team continue to achieve internationally is exactly the kind of success the whole of the UK needs to focus upon in these uncertain economic times."
