The head office is at Hellaby, Rotherham. Howard Smith, Richard Fleming and Mark Firmin of KPMG LLP Restructuring have been appointed as joint administrators. News: Magna 34 brings total transformation for rolling mill site in Rotherham

By

Adjacent to the Magna Centre in Rotherham, the first phase of a brand new £31 million business park has reached completion and is pulling in buyers and tenants. The Magna 34 Business Park has transformed the site of the former Templeborough Rolling Mill creating a 19 acre development of offices, industrial units and a distribution facility for buy or lease. To mark the completion of phase one, developers Jaguar Estates, Euro Dismantling Services and scheme contractor JF Finnegan, joined VIP guests including the deputy mayor and mayoress of Rotherham councilor Shaukat Ali and Wajida Naseem and Rotherham United FC manager Mark Robins and assistant manager John Breckin at a special launch party. Patrick Herbert of Jaguar Estates, said: "The development represents a massive transformation for the area both physically and psychologically. The site was totally derelict when we purchased it. Since achieving planning consent for the scheme in November 2006 a number of other projects have taken place in the area and we feel that what we were intending to do and have performed has been a catalyst for development in close proximity due to its well served location. There is now a completely new focus to the area and a vibrancy and urgency to be a part of that." Rebecca Schofield from the Sheffield office of Knight Frank which is marketing the scheme with GVA Grimley and M3, said: "The flexible terms and variety of properties and sizes on offer are attracting interest from investors and occupiers looking to take advantage of the site's strategic location. We have seen businesses ranging from financial services to IT opting for the offices, trade occupiers taking the more traditional industrial units with logistics companies looking at the biggest distribution facility. "The majority of occupier interest is from companies already within five miles of the scheme, looking to expand, consolidate, or to move from older inefficient or redundant premises." Construction of phase two of the scheme will follow shortly.

News: Rotherham's Inditherm reports first profit

By

The latest financial report from Rotherham based Inditherm plc shows that the first half of 2008 has resulted in a pre-tax profit for the first time in the company’s history. Inditherm's energy efficient polymer technology is used in heating mattresses, pipework, sports pitches, storage vessels and medical treatments and the company now works with over 30 medical distributors and overseas partners. Turnover increased by 43% to £1,261k, boosted by sales to American firm, Smiths Medical. Progress in the USA has been slow but the CosyTherm neonatal range has been launched and is starting to attract increasing interest. CosyTherm is now firmly established as market leader in the UK and Inditherm hope this sector will show strong growth over the coming year. The company now has a more focused approach in industrial and construction sectors which has delivered considerably improved margins although orders are down. Product development on the use of Inditherm's technology in the pre-cast concrete market is being completed and the £199,000 order to supply a pitch heating system for Aston Villa's new training ground has recently been carried out. Despite making a profit in the first half of the year, Chairman, Mark Abrahams gave a cautious outlook: "We anticipate making a loss in the second half of the year, although underlying growth in Medical should drive the business towards break-even in the foreseeable future. Results in the first half have shown how close the balance is now between profit and loss in the business." Inditherm Medical will be exhibiting their range of patient warming systems at the Association for Perioperative Practice’s flagship event next month.

News: Cepac invests in CCTV package

By

Info4Security report that one of the world's largest and most technologically advanced corrugated packaging plants is fully exploiting the benefits of CCTV. Cepac, based at Brookfields Park, Manvers, Rotherham have invested in a Samsung Techwin CCTV system for health and safety and management information purposes, as well as for security. Custom designed and built in 1999, the plant produces "retail friendly packaging" with a corrugator machine capable of running at speeds of up to 400 metres per minute. Cepac's Wayne Cusworth told Info4Security: "The machine, which is 100 metres long, is extremely safe to operate but when operating at full capacity can become very hot. "The CCTV cameras are therefore proving very useful as they allow our operators to monitor in detail the production process without having to get too close to the machinery. There is the added bonus that if production is delayed the recorded video can be reviewed to identify the cause of the problem." The system was installed by specialists DJ Byers Ltd and Wayne added: "The CCTV system ensures we maintain the highest levels of service to our customers by helping us to keep our machines operating at full capacity."
